Virtanen graduates are consistently recruited by the world’s leading institutions. In the Class of 2024 alone, 85% of our cohort received offers from their first-choice universities.
- United Kingdom: Our students regularly matriculate to Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and LSE, particularly in Law, Economics, and Engineering.
- USA: We have a strong track record with “Little Ivies” and research-heavy institutions like MIT and Stanford, owing to our rigorous STEM profile.
- Nordic & Europe: Many students choose to remain in the Nordic region, attending Aalto University, Karolinska Institutet, or ETH Zurich, championing the European tradition of technical excellence.
Olympiads & Competitions

- Mathematics: The Virtanen Math Team has placed in the top 5% of the Nordic Mathematical Contest for three consecutive years.
- Debating: Our English Debate Society holds the regional championship title, renowned for their articulate rhetoric and structured argumentation.
- The Arts: Students from the [ART-DES] track have had their work exhibited at the Turku Art Museum, and two recent graduates were shortlisted for the European Young Designers Award.
Alumni Impact
The measure of a school is found in the character of its alumni. Our “Old Virtanens” are currently working as policy advisors in Brussels, developing green energy solutions in Helsinki, and curating galleries in London. We celebrate not just those who achieve fame, but those who contribute meaningfully to their communities. The “Virtanen Medal,” awarded annually to an alumnus, recognises service to humanity over personal gain, reinforcing our belief that success is best measured by one’s contribution to the common good.
